This is a short story of two unlikely friends, becoming the best of friends for over 20 years. Kelly Howard is from Garner, North Carolina just a short drive to Raleigh, the "City of Oaks" and Sherma Weekes is from Trinidad, the beautiful southern part of the Caribbean islands. These two lovely, hard working ladies met while working for the State of North Carolina. Kelly is now a retiree and Sherma is still employed with the State.

 

Kelly and Sherma love crafting and making new things. Sherma’s significant other Cozart is running CM Farms out of Nathalie, Virginia. One of his products is hemp seed oil, which is used for skincare and beauty products to help retain moisture, soothes dry, irritated and inflamed skin to be effective for its health supporting properties. So, this prompted a question. Hmmm? What can they do with hemp seed oil? They started bouncing ideas off one another and tried making body butter, a type of body moisturizer made with a thick texture and a lot of oils. After making their concoction, the body butter turned out quite amazing so then they decided they should try selling them. Now came the business name. What should they name their business? Kelly loves her grandma’s name Cozy so much she mentioned it to Sherma and both really liked that name. So Cozy Comforts Body Essentials was formed on April 2022.
